Scholastic Art Regional Gold Key, Texas State Fair 1st Place Oil/Acrylic/Pastel Still Life Junior 2021
An online-student in 2020 while all my classmates attended school in-person, I frequently reminisced alone at my bedroom desk of what was once considered conventional but now unimaginable. In my still life stands my Homecoming mum from the football game in 2019; boots worn at the Sadie Hawkins dance the same year; and a conch shell from a vacation to Mexico. Lively dances and serene vacations striked me as foreign amidst the pandemic that affixed me within the house. In the thick of the chaos of growing COVID-19 numbers in the U.S., peace endured given that the same God that provided the passage to the nation’s founding and blessed the country was in full control. His plans were higher than ours as declared in Isaiah 55:8-9.
Capturing the spirit and soul of my subject matter on canvas.
