For my third portrait, I strove to illustrate and celebrate the power that women possess in that they are self-made, continuing to fight against discrimination and advance their rights in societies that once deemed them wholly unequal to men. Although women have made much gain in the medical field, even so today, there lingers a gender gap beyond the walls of academia. In this painting, I spotlight the milestones achieved and the ambition women for two centuries have possessed in securing their future in fields, such as medicine.
